Please post a new question. Tell us how much you want to spend, what you plan to use the camera for most of the time, and what your prior experience is with photography. With this information, we will be much more helpful to you.

Better Brand

Which is better? Chevy or Ford? Porsche or BMW? Mercedes or Lexus? Nikon or Canon? These are all unanswerable questions as they are all "the best" in their class, depending who you ask.

If you have no personal preference, perhaps you would do best by going with the recommendation of your local camera shop pro or a friend who has something that he/she likes. If you have someone who is willing to help you learn how to use a particular camera, add ten points to that brand in your decision making process.

The best digital cameras are made by CANON, They have amazing picture resolution. They also are easy to use, last long, and have everything you would need like a built in video camera in a tiny camera.

Call me bias, but it definitely has to be SONY, SONY SONY ! Why ? Its stylish. Its user friendly. Its expandable. Sony has a wholele range of assessories available when you want more out of just a digital camera. Definitely SONY. With it you must download the free picasa/google photo software that enables you to store, organize and edit your digital images. More importantly it has a simple user friendlly straightening tool that allows you to straighten any picture that you might have taken slant. Or just removing the red eye effect. SONY and PICASA. I love my Canon S3 IS. It has a 12X optical zoom that is wonderful. A little pricey at $399, but well worth the money.
