Do you agree with St. Augustine that war can be "just"? If so, do you think President Bush’s decision to invade Iraq was just? Why or why not? Also, do you think he made the right decision?

I don't agree that War can Ever be Just. Augustine was making a statement against war with the 'Just war' theory. In the culture he lived in, war was always acceptable. He set down the rules for a just war to stop wars.

I do not believe that killing other people for a political reason is ever Just. I do believe that it is okay to defend yourself (WWII) but it is much better to root out the causes of war before war arrives.

Ok, well of course war can be just. Its been just the bulk of the time. Going into Iraq was actually a smart thing. We have Islamic extremist who want our country gone, whipped out, even if it means the rest of the world goes too. Long before 9/11 even.

Going into Afghanistan was a must. Going into Iraq was not. Even the top politicians including Clinton believed there was wmd. I just don’t see the terrorists using mustard gas on the USA. But in all honesty I think we went in for something more important. It was to change Iraq into a place were the people thrive rather than Sadom.

This would show people like those in Iran, what there country could be like and give them a reason to believe it. Remember Iran has a long history of over throwing unwanted leaders. On top of that we would have a much needed allies in the middle east.

Unfortunately its failing. We military, completely destroyed them. We never even lost one battle. An thats a fact. So the terrorists are leap frogging over the military to the media, making it seem as if we are doing a horrible job. Well it worked. Now we are failing. The people don’t want us there. But its also b/c everything there is just to corrupt.

But this is not a war. It’s a battle. Mark my words, we will be in a fight again with Islamic extremist, possibly in a world war.

Do I think we made the right decision? Well I think we should have left it alone, but I will not criticize the decision.

Is war just? Absolutely I mean the negative effects of war will be felt for the time it goes on and a generation after at the most. But the positive aspects of war, can be felt for the rest of human existence.

Yes, war can be just, look back 60 years ago and at hitler.
Is the Iraq war just? only time will tell. I do know that i would rather have the war on terrorism in the Middle East were most of the terrorists live than here on the streets of America
