That depends how strong the beer is and how much you drank, But rule of thumb is 1 hour for every unit you have drunk. 1/2 a pint of beer is one unit, so if you drank 5 pints it would take 10 hours to clear your system./

Blood/Breath Alcohol Concentration (BAC) is the amount of alcohol in the bloodstream or on one's breath. BAC is expressed as the weight of ethanol, measured in grams, in 100 milliliters of blood, or 210 liters of breath. BAC can be measured by breath, blood, or urine tests.
What can affect your BAC?
How much alcohol you drink.
How fast you drink. In general, the quicker you drink, the higher your peak BAC will be.
Body size. Large people tend to reach lower BACs than smaller people, given the same amount of alcohol.
Food in your stomach. When there is food in your stomach, alcohol is absorbed more slowly into the blood stream. The BAC rises more rapidly when you drink on an empty stomach, because there is no food in which to dilute the alcohol.
Type of mixer used. Water and fruit juices mixed with alcohol may slow the absorption process, while carbonated beverages may speed it up.
Gender differences: Women reach higher BACs faster because they have less water in their bodies and more adipose tissue (fat), which is not easily penetrated by alcohol. A man and a woman, with all other factors being equal, both drinking the same amount of alcohol, will have different BAC levels. Hers will be higher.
So it is not a simple question to answer with all of these factors involved. But, it has been concluded that the average person's body can process 1 drink per hour. As in 1 12oz beer, 1 3oz shot, or 1 7 oz cocktail or mixed drink.
So to finaly answer the question 1 hour for every beer you drink.

1 unit of alcohol will stay in your system for 1 hour, plus 1 hour for initial absorbtion, so say you drink 4 units of alcohol it will take 1 hour to be absorbed into your system then 4 hors to work it's way out, so a total of 5 hours.
