Scientists say it doesn't, but I'm here to tellya, if you get acne after eating chocolate, it was the chocolate that caused it - or the fatty emulsifiers with the chocolate, or the sugar, but what's the difference, you're not gonna just eat raw cocoa powder, so yes, chocolate CANDY can cause acne. And it could be you're allergic to cocoa and it makes you break out. Problem is, if you're acne prone, almost everything causes acne, so it's almost a moot point. The more even your blood sugar and hormone levels, the better your skin will be.

Myths About the Causes of Acne

There are many myths about what causes acne. Chocolate and greasy foods are often blamed, but there is little evidence that foods have much effect on the development and course of acne in most people. Another common myth is that dirty skin causes acne; however, blackheads and other acne lesions are not caused by dirt. Stress doesn't cause acne, but research suggests that for people who have acne, stress can make it worse.

It can contribute to it if you are genetically predisposed.

There are chemicals in chocolate that can inhibit the uptake of minerals(eg zinc) that are vital for skin care.

Also some people have an allergy to chocolate that may manifest itself in a skin condition.

The only way of really knowing is to try out your theory.
Go on, go out and get that 200 grams of Cadburys Jamaican Rum chocolate. You know you want to!
