I have read about this drug and a chance of eye problems could be one of the side effects. I am nearsighted, and i wear contacts.

I have been taking topamax for one month exactly as of today. I do wear contacts and some weird stuff is going on with my eyes. I am having some blurry vision, and seeing halos around lights at night. I really need to get my eyes checked because glaucoma is a possible side effect. I have had a few dizzy spells too. Good news is I lost 13 pounds!

I've been on Topamax since after my surjery for my seizures. I've been taking topamax since 1999 and haven't had a problem. You could have these problems but doesn't mean you will get them. I lost weight with topamax. You need to find the right dosage for you first of all. they played around until they found the right dosage and after that I never had all the side effects again. The doctor lowered my dosage and since then I don't have a problem with the side effects. I'm 47 and been taking seizure medication since I was 2. The doctor's even told me all the medication I took has never affected me. I just had my eyes tested and don't have any problems with my eyes what so ever. Every time they switched my medication around those side effects I had all were gone and I was fine. they had me on neurontin and as soon as I got off the drug everything that was bothering me with the side effects I was perfectly fine again.

I wear day/night contacts since I am very farsighted hence blurry vision when I take them off. My contacts are +3.25 and +4.25 and for reading I have to wear glasses on top of them and they are +1.75. I have a chronic migraines and that is why I was given Topamax. I also have PTSD and take Celexa and xanax for that, I get dizzy as it is and also my hands and feet will tingle from time to time. I had seizures before and had bad reaction to meds for them, all off the drugs that fall into that bracket always had paradox effect with me. I am not sure I should even try taking it.

I've been on Topamax for a year now with and I have only mild problems with seeing flashes of light and whatnot. It isn't terribly bad but it does make me feel a little crazy sometimes :) Other than that my seizures have decreased so that is a good thing.

I don't wear contacts but I would describe the 6 months I spent on it as a living hell.

Barely got out of bed, weird painful headaches, then you can't just stop taking it or you get seizures so 3 more months of hell to taper off of it. 3 months in bed with headaches is a long time.
