Why do many Christians throw phrases like this around like its nothing? If they truly believe in hell, then why does this phrase give them pleasure instead of sadness? To me it is a very disturbing concept.
I am just trying to figure this one out, because I have heard it alot lately.

There is no figuring it out. For some reason some people believe in his imaginary place called hell. Many of these same people enjoy saying who is going to go there. I find it pathetic but amusing.

I have realized that away from here, is a whole world where the majority of the Christians are not the brainwashed fanatics that some of the people here are.

It is a source of considerable sadness. Christians should not be speaking in that manner. However, the Bible talks about hell more than it does about heaven. It is a real place. We as Christians should tell the truth about Christianity, not pick and choose. However, we need to do so in love.

I concur.
If they truly believe such a place exists (which I don't, but this isn't the forum for that discussion), then they would never wish such a cruel fate for anyone. Nobody, no matter what they've done deserve a eternal life of torment. God does not wish such a cruel fate upon anyone, nor should any man (or woman) made in his image.

Example: Would you punish your young child, regardless what they've done, by taking their hand and holding atop a scolding hot oven? - No! Neither should you wish eternal damnation to a place of fiery torment (a far crueler punishment) to anyone.

i am a christian....

yes I have said it ... along with many other "vulgar" things... mostly out of anger or frustration, but

i am a sinner

thats why i am a christian

thank God for his grace, he forgives, I wish others could do the same and quit trying to be perfect, and portraying Christianity falsely....

Becoming a christian doesn't make you perfect... it means you want to become that way... grace, peace, tolerance, and long suffering are the goals of christianity....

being a christian is easy.... it simply requires faith

trying to be pleasing and submissive unto God is hard... be thankful for grace and mercy.... the rest of you christians that act like you never do anything wrong, need to worry more about the beams in your own eyes... i know mine is there

That is the worst thing anyone can wish on any other person.I looked at my 13 month old beautiful daughter as she fell asleep in my arms tonight, and i thought about christians condemming her to hell if she didn't believe in jesus when she's older, how could so called loving people say that to another person.
The worst thing about it is that they think they are going to heaven, sounds more like hell to me.

I have not ever told anyone to go to hell.... some Christians confuse Matthew 7:1-6

Matt 7:1-5
1{Don't Condemn Others--} "Stop judging others, and you will not be judged.
2For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged.
3And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?
4How can you think of saying, 'Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye?
5Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye.

i dont know why SOME Christians say stuff like that or get sooo defensive. it really gives all the Christain faith a bad name, i really dont understand, sometimes it seems like the SOME of the 'christians' on here are the rudest people.

im a Christain and it really makes me sad when other 'Christains' say things like that and make it hard of us to reach out to people.

Hehe I have noticed that too. Some people's answers would fit an inquisition preacher's in a middle age film.

My bet is that they are either joking, or they are mentally disabled or simply uneducated.

I am a Christian, and I never say that. Heard plenty of Non-christians say it.

Not sure what your on about regarding getting pleasure from saying it!
