I have had store-bought bone-in chicken breasts in the package (non-frozen) for about 5-6 days and took it out today to cook, but there are small white spots all over them, like powder. Is it mold and should I throw the chicken away?

Call the store you bought it from, ask for the meat cutter, or butcher. Ask him/her. They know what the dates on their packages mean, and how long you should refrigerate it. They will be able to tell you exactly what to do. Ask them, what they would do

When it comes to chicken I follow the motto "When in doubt, Throw it out" I don't know exactly what the white spots are but I know I would definitely NOT eat it. Always freeze chicken right away if you do not plan on eating it within 2 days.

You should only keep chicken in the fridge for 2 to 3 days. It's not safe after that. Make sure to freeze it right away if you're not going to use it right away.

Throw it out. You don't want to keep uncooked thawed chicken in the fridge for longer then 3 days. After that it's bad. Throw it out now. You don't want to get sick.

Toss it right away! Chicken does not keep very long unfrozen. I'm surprised it doesn't really smell rotten! Your health is worth more than the risk.

Throw it away NOW. Don't take the chance because it isn't worth the pain you will have after eating it. You will regret it if you eat it and possibly die after eating it or at least end up in the ER.

If you have to ask or smell something to find out if it's good should be the first clue. What is your time worth verses your health, if you're a gambler, eat it, if not go buy another

You can't keep fresh chicken in the fridge more than a day or so.

yeah, you're going to have to throw it out. even if it's not mold, it could be something bad.
whenever you get meat (chicken, beef, fish, etc) you should freeze it ASAP, if you're not using it that day.
