I believe that you should never hide a tear. It is only a very natural to cry sometimes when love is involved. Some people have just have a better ability of coping and suppressing than others. Does it make me any less of a man because I am not afraid to show my true emotion? (in the right situation)

not at all i think a woman likes to see a guy cry it shows that they do have feelings. my bf crys at sad things on tv some women and men might think its sisssy but to me it shows that he does have feelings for things. a tear is nothing we are all human and cope in different ways i know women that dont cry but do people call them names no they dont this gets to me when a man supposed to do this and not do this same goes for a woman.
we are all human and only we our selves know how we feel and if you wanna cry you go for it know one can change who you are.

It's the men who don't show emotion who are less of a man, imho. My partner never shows any 'tender' emotions at all, and in my opinion he is emotionally disabled. I have been with him for 10 years and never seen him shed a tear. He has only ever told me that he loved me once. He doesn't even know how to put an arm around me if I am upset. I will never get used to it, and I perceive his inability to show any kind of tenderness as a weakness, not a strength. It's easy to hide feelings, pretend to be invincible, hold everyone at arms length - it takes real courage to let others see our sensitive side, because doing that exposes us to the risk of pain through someone exploiting that.

The most manly men I have known have always been able to express their emotions.

No it doesn't, crying is an emotion just like laughing, but crying is also seen by some men as a sign of weakness-which it isn't. If you are feeling strong emotions they have to come out one way or another.

In the nine years I had with my wife I only cried a handful of times, when our cat died, when her mother died, when my father died etc. I have cried a whole lot more since I found out she cheated on me-but without crying over her (even though she isn't worth it) I would have no way of getting through this experience.

It makes you more of a man (to show your emotions). Hiding things is never good. Sometimes everyone needs to cry every once in a while.

difficult one... i was with my ex for 4years, and he only ever cried once, it was after we moved away from our friends and family, and started out on a new life adventure together thinking we were all grown up... he was 20, i was 17...
after we got there, he worked on a building site for 6weeks , but at the end of the contract, he ran out of work and couldnt find any for several weeks, so we lived off my wages. one night we went to our local pub, and there in front of everyone he burst into tears and said he didnt feel good enough for me an that i should leave him... i was horrified! i loved the guy to bits, but the fact that the one time he did decide to show his emotions was in such a dramatic and public way, i have to say i did think a bit less of him after that...
moral of the story being... it doesnt make u less of a man if u cry occasionally, just try not to do it in front of a bunch of gawping punters... :)

well if you show your emotions too often then you'll appear as a *****. on the other hand, crying at the right time and rarely does not make you less of a man.

Everything in moderation. There's a line between shedding a tear over something touching and being a disgrace to the penis God gave you. Stay on this side of the line and you'll be fine and not end up as another one of her girlfriends....

Honestly i don't think crying makes you less of a man but if you're overly sensitive then there is a problem. I had an ex that thought it was crying wasn't very manly. She wanted her man to be too strong to ever cry but i don't think they exist.

I think the previous answers sum it up. Never try and hide powerful emotions.
