Wild bird seed is not washed and prepared the same way as parakeet foods. Other than lack of nutrition, I would not feed them wild bird food as the cleaniness of the seed is not good. If you need a cheaper seed alternative, try www.thatpetplace.com they sell parakeet seed (all bird seed for that matter) at a great price!

They might but i wouldnt recommend it. Wild bird food mix has seeds such as corn kerenls and sunflower seed--and parakeets are unable to eat these. I would stick to parakeet food.

Parakeet food is specially formulated to meet parakeets' needs. If you give them other kinds of seed, they might like it better and refuse to eat parakeet food any more.

I agree with everyone but if U are looking to give them a little variety give them some fresh Kale or celery they love it! One of mine really likes angel hair pasta-uncooked-I think she really just likes the sound of it breaking lol and of course the attention(Ustand there and hold it ).
