I work everyday and all my paycheck goes to paying the bills for my family to be able to have somewhere to live, food on the table and lights and water. I work so that my family can have the things that they need to live, and this year I am unable to get Christmas gifts for my children. I just wanted to know if there was someone out there that would help a family in need. I live in Madison NC and all of the organizations that help with Christmas has a deadline and on the days that they offer service I had to work and could not get up there to sign up for any help this year. So if there are any people, companys, or organizations out there that would help me please let me know. Thank you very much for your time and your help would be very much appreciated.

Yes there is. You need to talk with someone with the Salvation Army in your town and the Red Cross. They will help you. If you belong to a church or even if you dont , go to the Pastor there and see if there is something he can do. You will not believe the results you will get from the generous caring people at Christmas and anytime of the year. Good Luck To you and your family. If by chance this doesnt work make Christmas gifts together or tell the children you are going to be giving this year and help a community out with volunteer work. Your children will learn something from all of this believe me.

But, you do have a lot to be thankful for. You have your home, food on the table for your children and Love. Isnt this what it is really all about anyway. Happy Holidays.....dee

Is there anyway that u could give some information??? I am a parent of 2 and know how it is. My husband and I struggle from time to time ourselves but I would be more than willing to help you whereever I could. I have a boy and girl and would be willing to get a gift and an outfit for each of your children. This year is the first year we will have money left over. There is no reason a child shouldnt have something small under the tree. Makes their day. Jesus received three gifts on his birthday. If there is no way of you relaying over a P.O. Box number or maybe some place I could send something for you then maybe try the angel tree. Fill out information about your children, send it in and by christmas, your community will have adopted your children and bought somethings that they need and maybe something they want. Merry Christmas. I hope yahoo answers doesnt take my response off of here because I would love to help you.... starlaa78@yahoo.com

It's nice to be able to have presents for you kids on Christmas, but it's even more important to have family time. I don't remember the gifts very much, but I do remember the tree, the food, and the games.

It's good to try and find out what help you can get -- but if you can't get very much help, please try to have a happy Christmas, anyway. You can decorate the tree with origami (books from the library can help you with this) and popcorn strings. Talk to your kids and get their ideas for having Christmas on no budget. Maybe everyone can recycle or make gifts from things around the house.

There are many stories, too, about poor families who have good Christmases -- you might be able to borrow the books from the library or even get the books on tape from there. There's the famous Christmas Carol by Dickens, and O.Henry's The Gift of the Magi.

This Christmas will be tough, but if you make Christmas a priority from Jan. 1 (saving $10 a month, looking into alternate sources of gifts, maybe looking into part-time jobs) you can make the future Christmases more commercial. But not necessarily better -- Christmas is about love, and if your family can pull together and get through these tough times with love, you will have a truly splendid Christmas to look back on.

I wish you luck in your search, and a happy Christmas no matter what the money situation is.

Yes, the family resources at schools provide that. Plus churches and community organizations. Wal-marts and so forth even have angel trees where a person selects an anonymous child and buys presents. Check into all of those things. Call community based services to get some more ideas.

I feel your pain, I am in the same boat. My husband decided fatherhood was too difficult & has disappeared. I receive no support and I supposedly make too much to get any help. I don't even have a winter coat - I wear my spring one and walk as quickly as possible from my car to work - about 5 city blocks. By the time I buy formula (cannot breastfeed for personal, medical reasons), diapers & the things a baby needs plus pay bills (no car loan or anything "extra"), I can't do anything else. It's part of life, unfortunately. I hope things get better for you.

Having your family together, in your home, food on the table and heat, etc. and the love you share together should be the priority and most important to you. Try your local churches, a small gift for each of you would be nice but not the most important thing about Christmas. By the way, Internet services are a luxury, not a necessity. Sorry. I have no money of my own for gifts myself for my family but do have food on the table and a warm bed to sleep in. My adult daughter provides this for me due to my illness, our luxury is the internet.

Try contacting your local chapter of United Way. They can put you in contact with other agencies. I was going to ask the ages of the children ,but you're not accepting email. Let me know if I can help.
