I'm going out with this girl later, and we like each other, I think. We talk on AIM mostly. She goes to another school then me, and we rarely see each other.

Now we're going on our second date [first was really awkward.] we're going to eat at a buffet with my friend and his girlfriend. Now, I dont want this date to be like the last one...

any advice?

There's nothing wrong with awkwardness. It's just a part of life, and it happens. Talking on AIM is NOT the same as talking in person. People are much more brave online. What you percieve as awkwardness may just be shyness. Don't feel as if you have to fill in silences. If she's not talking, don't make her talk. If anything, it means that she's comfortable enough around you that she feels she doesn't have to talk every second. Eventually things will open up, just make sure to be yourself. Have fun!

say something funny when it seems awkward. If you or her are uncomfortable or uneasy about something, a nice laugh should lighten the mood of both of you. Try saying nice things to her, make her feel comfortable and relaxed.

go on news websites and such so u do at least if all else fails have something to talk about, compiment her, say "ur hair looks nice" or something if she has made an effort with it! it can't go the wrong way, and make natural conversation, just make casual comments about everything, and wise cracks about them.

this one is going to be easier because it's more than just you two. so all the attention will not just be on her or just on you it'll be group thing and it should take all of the tention off of everybody and ya'll (sorry im country louisiana) will have a better time

Compliment her. Dont correct her in any way... Girls hate that. Bring flowers if you can, and really ask her about herself. What kinds of things she likes to do, where would she like to visit someday. What colleges shes into... Things like that!
