I am on it for migraines, but I have heard many people say that they lost weight with it. How long did it take before you noticed weight loss?
And please, don't advise me on the other bad side effects. I already am aware of these, and I am willing to take the risk. Thank you!

well the first time I took it with Seroxat, an anti anxiety, I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. But when I stopped it, I took all the weight back on. I put myself back on Topomax without consulting with the doctor, but that time, I didn't lose any weight at all. I think it was the mixture of the 2 meds that made me lose weight, but even in that case, I took the weight back on when I stopped the med. Not worth the risks of the med. It's not a diet pill. I calms u down though so that u eat less.

I too recently started Topamax for migraine prevention...
I'm just starting my 3rd week right now...and have noticed the decrease in my appetite. Sometimes I just THINK I should be hungry cuz it's a scheduled mealtime; but if I actually take a minute to think about it, I'm truly not hungry, and if I DO start to eat, I am full extremely fast. I have lost 4 pounds so far. But, I believe the Topamax needs to be "in your system" for a few weeks also, for the medication to reach appropriate levels in your blood. Also a note worth mentioning; it has also given me diarrhea since starting it too. So,,,,that COULD be part of the weight loss effect?!?! Who knows... I'm hoping that will soon subside.

i'm on a 100mg and it took about a month or so and i noticed a change. not so much in pounds but in inches and fat loss first, then weight.
