My brother is getting married next year and his fiance asked me to be one of the birdesmaids. She is asking me what kind of dresses I would like to wear. The other two bridesmaids are not even past the age of 14 and I am 21. Her colors are spring colors not sure exactly I think a springy green is one of them. What would be a good style of bridesmaid dress since she does not know what she wants and is asking me. We have looked around but have not found anything she likes yet.

I was recently a bridesmaid so I will give you my thoughts on the subject.

I would ask if she would want to go shopping with you and look. You can choose colors and styles together. Just remeber to keep in consideration: 1) The complection/hair/eye colors of the other maids. You don't want the color you pick looking great on two and lousy on one, and 2) The build/height of the maids. You want to pick a style that will flatter any build. I would suggest A-Line (Suits all body types), and tea-length (for an afternoon event) or floor-length for evening. Also, go with a strapless, halter, or thick-strapped/v-neck top to the dress. Spaghetti straps look BAD on anyone with a large chest and off-shoulder makes broad shoulders look broader. One more tip: If you have any TALL maids (the wedding I was in had a girl that was 6') make sure you find a dress that can come with extra-length or if you have any bigger girls make sure you find a dress that can come in plus... If you have both, like the wedding I was in did, you will need to look for both.

Also:
*Try to pick something that you don't have to dye shoes for... that's a mess waiting to happen.
*Try to pick something that's reasonably priced (under $200) since the maids, traditionally, pay for all of their expense to be in the wedding.

I know it's complex, but you will find something. Good luck!

She definetly needs your input, and since she asked you, go for it and tell her that you do not have to have the same style ,or the same color dresses as the other's, considering the age difference you would look ridiculous in the same style. You can suggest to the Bride-To-Be to consider this... chose some colors that she prefers, possibly have the smaller ones made if she want's all the same colors, and they should be a dress that can be worn after the affair, maybe even cut down afterwards to be worn on a Holiday or to a Dance. Think about it, it's only one day, so she should consider all the attendants and go from there.

What time of day is the wedding? 5:00 pm or later should be more formal than before 5:00 pm. Since there is such a big range in age, maybe you could simply match in color, but not necessarily style of dress. Each bridesmaid could have their own style. That would work for everyone.

When I picked bridesmaid dresses I picked a style that they could wear after the wedding. Why just make it a one time dress? Go to a fabric store and look at pattern books. You can probably find someone that will make dresses cheaper than buying them.

How about a tea length dress? Nothing to flashy considering the other bridesmaids are young. Maybe something strapless for you and something like a tank for them.

I went with David's Bridal Mix and Match dresses. You can choose from numerous colors, but the girls can pick their top and bottom. My oldest sister was pregnant so she got a more covering top and flowy skirt, but my very single maid of honor got a tight holster top with a long, tight skirt, etc. It was nice cause they got to pick something they were comfortable in, the pieces were affordable, and I got to pick the perfect color. They have a lot of different style tops and bottoms and accessories like scarves, waist belts, etc. Very cute and a change of pace from the same old boring "everyone wear the exact same thing" routine.

i think of it quite is an superb plan, rather the inverted colorations for various roles! the superb of the bridesmaids' clothing compliments your gown with the aid of a matching fabric amassing/pass without eliminating out of your glamour.
