I'm 23 years old and I've decided I don't like working full-time. I intend to live out the rest of my life working fewer than 40 hrs/wk. I live in San Francisco, which is pretty sweet, but I'd consider moving to a cheaper area nearby. Anyone have any success stories?

Clarification: I work full-time now, and I live in an apartment with two roommates. I don't know why some of you think it's lazy of me not to work 40 hours a week like most people. I disagree. I think it takes a lot of hard work and ingenuity to live off a part-time salary. I suspect that some of my denouncers are spiteful people who believe everyone should suffer because they have. They call me spoiled because I don't want to work more than I have to. I'm not interested in "getting something for nothing." I simply want to have enough money to live modestly. Some people have families to support, and I respect that, but I don't think it's wrong to work less if you need less. There are many other things I would like to do with my life than work, and I suspect that's true of just about everyone. I'm taking that desire to it's logical conclusion by working only as much as I need to. I fail to see how this is an offensive notion.

Well, you failed to mention how much you make per hour. I think it is possible. I saved money for a year working about 8 hrs a week, and now I'm living in an apt using that money plus the money I make now for 11 hrs a week. With those two years of salary, I will be able to just barely live here for 9 months until I graduate.
I was also able to buy food, movies, video games, a DS, and an MP3 player with that money.
I made sure to plan it out as I saved up for it. I think if you limit yourself and work for it, you can definitely do it. But I think you might want to work full-time for a few years and save money first. Then you won't have to stress when you transition to part-time.
Also, I have a roomate and we split rent, elec, and cable. I pay about 600/mth in rent. But that's because I live in a desirable area.

The girl who mentions your current pay is right. first, save some dough and bail out of debt (otherwise, those capitgalist pigs will take even that cardboard box of yours). After that, find a part time job with benefits, health care at least. Then, live with around 10 illegal immigrants in a house. This way rent is mad cheap. The downside is that you'll have 2 roommates, but who cares? you'll pretty much only be home to sleep anyways. Become a miser with your loot. Now, you need a hobby to supplement your income. take up carving, sewing, or some other activities that you can do at your own leasure. YES. THIS IS TECHNICALLY WORK. but **** it, if its fun, its not work.
anyways, your 20 hour job needs to be giving you like 20 an hour, this will transalte to 300 a week in cash after uncle sam grabs you by your ankles and shakes out the other 100. so 900 a month isnt that bad at all. youd spend around 200 on rent with 10 other illegals. sell your car. or start up some type of cult-like Fight Club/Project Mayhem.
In any case, it can be done, naysaying miserable capitalists aside.

I were given my 1st horse at the same time as i change into 13 or 14. My mom and father did not nor ever have payed a dime for him. A horse is a large duty, better then a bunny, or a chick or a hermit crab. I had a small job yet were saving for a horse because i change into round 10. that funds did not bypass a approaches, despite the indisputable fact that it kinda saved me on objective. ok, you say you're waiting to face up at 4 to take care of a horse. Sorry to allow you to recognize that loosing 2 hours of sleep is going to result you for the time of the day. believe me, i tried this one week so i might want to spend better time with my horse, i change into exhausted each day! commence with instructions, and perchance in a 12 months or so, you are able to communicate about leasing, it really is a sturdy thanks to get the feel of horse possessing devoid of the dedication.

40 hours isn't even that much I think you're a bit lazy. There's almost no way you can make it in California with 20 hours a week effort.

Now, since you're alittle lazy..I'd recommend moving to the 'burbs and getting some roommates to help with expenses. Also, think about selling stuff on ebay to make some extra moo-lah....good luck!

The fact is, you can't be lazy and comfortable. If you want to live well, you've got to earn it. If you are lazy, you will reap that.
