I was 19, nearly 20 and i moved out when i got married. I am 49 now. It is different these days with cost of living - rents, mortgages etc so expensive.

I think you shouldnt move out until you have a job and can support yourself.

I would suggest that nowadays a young person should have moved out by the time they are 25. Any older and they begin to get near 30 and its too much of an easy option to stay with mum and dad (or whoever), spend all your money on yourself and your lifestyle and never get to grips properly with the hard reality of being an adult.

Went to college in a different city at 18.

Came back for a few months, then moved out at 19 with a boyfriend.

Went back home again for about 6 months after 1 year w/the boyfriend.

Have been independent since age 21.

I'm 14 and have just moved out about 4 months ago. I don't like it. I think the best age to move out is about 18-19 years of age...

I moved out (or was kicked out, rather) right before turning 20. A teenager 'moving' out is usually implemented by the parent's wish for them to do so. Letting your kid live with you until they're 30 cripples them. They will never be self-sufficient; every time life knocks them down, they will fall back on you which is fine, but what happens when you're gone? At the same time, it's difficult due to low-wages and the sky-rocketing price of living. Depends on the situation, I suppose.

I was twenty something, had a job.
And it was so long ago that it was very unusual to move if you weren't getting married.
In fact, I had to for my job as I had no car and the public transportation wouldn't start early enough.
I think, it depends on everyone of course, but I was lucky to have a job.
Ideally, everyone who moves out should have one unless it is for studying and then you should have enough money to live with.
I think it is better to learn to live alone for a while as you learn more about yourself so and learn to be self sufficient.
A lot of the people who only move to live with someone tend to be co-dependant...
Then as someone told me once: I am very independent!

I moved out when I was 17, before I finished high school. (I do have my h.s. diploma) I have no regrets about it, and my parents and I have a way better relationship now then we ever did back then. (I'm 27 now). But normally, I would a least recommend that the person finishes high school and has a secure job (or is going to collage) before moving out of their parents' home.

I moved out a few days after I turned 18. I don't have a necessary age, I think you should move out whenever it suits you.

I moved out when I was 19 yrs old. I can't really say what age is best to move out, it also depends whether you're financially stable, it's hard but I did it.

I was 19 when I went to University. 18 or up seems sensible to me, too many things are denied you when you're younger than that. My sisters were in their early 20s when they flew the nest, and I know someone who was still at home in their 30s which is a bit sad!
