If you are an American citizen your husband can apply for citizenship with you as his sponsor. My husband is an immigrant from Romania, & we have been in the naturalization process for a little over 2 years now. It is a long, drawn-out process w/ much paperwork, but well worth it. We started out by going to a lawyer who specializes in immigration. She started us on the right track & even sends us all of the paperwork we must fill out & submit.

Why doesn't a marriage in Mexico count?

Since when don't we recognize a legal Mexican marriage?

Go to the Immigration Service web page and see how to petition for a spouse. I think he has to enter legally, but where you get married isn't an issue, I don't think.

Go through the proper channels at INS. It's a long process and pain in the neck, but anything else puts him in danger of eventually being deported.

Get an immigration attorney. You have to prove how long he has been married to you. You will have to be married by US law.

Good luck!
