Birthday Meal?

I want to have a birthday meal for my 18th and invite all my friends. I'm not sure though if it would be assumed that I was paying for everyones meal (7 people), or whether my friends would pay each for what they ate! i'm not exactly rich at the moment!

Just tell everyone that in lieu of gifts, everyone is paying for their own meal. Be straightforward or you could find yourself in a pretty awkward and financially draining position.
