Low end Treks are made in Asia, all Giants are made in Asia. so if you want a sweat shop bike go for either one. High end Treks are made in the USA.
Giants "high end" carbon fiber frames were all the rage a few years ago, but most people have gotten ride of them and didnt' replace them with Giants. I am sure there are a few die hards and giant fans out there but I think at the top end most would do better with a Trek for a few dollars more.
I don't have either though i have ridden both, I opted for a custom steel/carbon Land Shark.

No Giant does not make Trek. However Giant makes some of the best bikes on the market.
If you want a great bike go with Cannondale!

Giant and Trek are two different manufacturers that both make pretty decent bikes depending on what you want. They both have web sites if you want to check them out. www.trekbikes.com or www.giant-bicycles.com Both web sites have a dealer locator feature

Giant is one of the brand names of Pacific Bicycle, which is a subsidiary of Dorel Industries - NASDAQ stock symbol DIIB.
Pacific also owns the Schwinn, and GT brands, which they bought when those companies went bankrupt.
Trek and Specialized are Pacifics two biggest competitors in the "high end" bike business. But Pacific also does a lot of business thru retailers like Wal-Mart with the Schwinn brand.

if you want a good bike manufacture, youve got to go with a specialized, their new 2007 is fantastic, i own a specialized stumpjumper pro and i hav neva had any reason to not like it, they are just fantastic.
