I live in Houston Texas and am 17 years old. I have the Parent Taught driving Packet and i need to know if i need a Social Security number to actually go to the DPS office and take the test for the Instructional Permit. If i do need it, and i dont have it but i am a legal resident. is there any other way or do I ABSOLUTELY need a SSN

send and get a number, you are going to need that number all your life, you can't even get a job without it.

You don't need a SSN to drive. Have you ever had a job? Just get a SSN, it's painless. Ask your parents to help you get one.
