Would a person breathing in Carbon monoxide experience more violent reactions than one breathing nitrogen?

Carbon monoxide kills you because your red blood cells which carry oxygen around your body come to the lungs pick up the carbon monoxide, take it around your body but cannot deposit it anywhere it is needed because it will not become de-attached. The carbon monoxide sticks to the red blood cells, therefore no oxygen can be delivered where it is needed and you are suffocated.

Nitrogen will suffocate you because it will displace the oxygen.

you breathe out nitrogen every time you exhale, it is an inert gas. Carbon monoxide will suffocate you, as it binds with red blood cells and will not detach so you get no oxygen. In order for the nitrogen to be used by the body it has to be combined with oxygen as in nitrous oxide used by dentists, and then only the oxygen is used the nitrogen is released and exhaled again, but it does cause some anoxia, which is why it makes you feel giddy in the dentist's chair.

No Carbon Monoxide is a poisonous gas that poisons your system causing death.
Nitrogen is an inert gas. It kills you by displacing all the air suffocating you.
