To those who accuse me of ignorance:

I majored in religion, and I would wager I could quote scripture better than 95% of every Christian currently attending church.

NB:

The question refers to "the BIBLICAL God."

You only fear or feel victimized by God when you know you are wrong.

No... because none of the things you have listed above are attributes of the biblical God. From what I know He would be similar to a father figure.

Christians are not victims and are not afraid of God. I fear my parents but I am not afraid of them.

He does not intimidate (obviously not because people do what they want)...look at the state of the world today.

He does not withhold resources in fact "he causes the rain to fall on the good and the bad"

These are just some of my views. I can tell by the way you have stated the question you will diagree with me anyway.....but just had to say my piece.

**** No one should accuse you of ignorance. I find, like you, that a lot of atheists spend their whole lives studying the Bible (really amazing for something they do not believe in). And I do believe you can quote scripture more than 95% of christians but christianity is not about quoting scriptures (thank God!!).

If a individual has the components, meaning the backing of a infant-kisser or some thing like that, he or she nonetheless might choose to proceed with the relationship. this could be in case of the abused if she is in provider and has severe perks and spends quite a sum of her earnigns on the relatives. She could be abused each each now and then yet she heavily isn't divorced reason the greed of the money she is incomes for the relatives.Being a girl she has her own bindings. She might fireplace her husband, the mum in regulation and different contributors of the relatives yet they could no longer reciprocate. they are going to pay attention with heads down. to initiate a clean life isn't difficulty-free with yet another important different. I have no idea where you got the idea that God was evil. The evil one is Satan. God's counterpart. The God I know and love is ever watchful, ever forgiving, always loving. He continually reaches out to me and lifts me. He encourages me to work hard, try harder and never give up. When I make mistakes, sin, or do no live up to my potential the guilt and inadequacy I feel comes from myself and other human judgement. God loves me with out fail. God has never abused me and when I listen to His still, small voice I am protected from harm and evil. He has blessed me with great abundance for which I am thankful every day. I have always felt that He has given me much more than I have earned and because of this I try to be generous with others. I am sorry you have gotten such a wrong impression of my Heavenly Father and mixed him up with Satan. Perhaps, you need to try another approach at understanding God and all that He wants for mankind.

I wanted to add that the word fear in the Bible is a mistranslation or at least a translation that there was no real word that fit. It should be equated with respect and reverence and does not mean to tremble and be made afraid.

Again...someone who thinks they know about Christianity but doesn't.
1. I am not afraid of God...God is all good therefore not able to do any harm/
2. God has never used threats...he gives me promises and keeps them.
3. God never withholds anything from his children..,.yet blesses them with more than they can ever expect.
4.God tells me I can do all things. He tells me I am his child ...the child of the most high king. I never feel inadequate. Not since I met him anyways.
5. Getting what I deserve....man is sinfull...we don't deserve what God gives us. I never want for anything, financially or emotionally.
6. God doesn't blame me for anything. He takes away all the guilt.
7. GOd stays with me...even when I try to leave him. He said he will never leave me or betray me...and he hasn't thus far.

If you would like scriptures to support this please feel free to email me.

Knowing the biblical God isn't the same thing as knowing him personally as a friend. I can read a book about presidents and think I know what George Washington was like but I bet his personal friends (which are all now dead) knew a different George.

As I am not a believer in God, I would have to say no.

As one who was a believer at one time, I still would say no.

God, in the Jewish/Christian sense is an omnipotent, external power, with whom you place faith in absolutely. By practicing the various dogma's one is said to live by the grace of God. One who falls into sin, will reap the punishment of those sins.

All along the power to be good and for self improvement is internal. Religion is a man made contrivance to give humanity hope in life, and hope for an afterlife.

I find many things wrong with the belief in God, but to declare this deity as abusive rings untrue.

i notice you atheism website, so i would venture to guess you are not looking for an answer as much as you are trying to make others who believe in god feel, what were your words inadequate or intimidated, interesting you are acting exactly the same way you perceive god in the bible. but nevertheless the answer to your question is no and the reason you thought that questions was good is because you don't know! the bible does say that Satan has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, interesting

I lived with an abusive spouse for 5 years. I never felt like I deserved what I was getting and eventually I realized my own worth and left him. God on the other hand has never given me anything I could not handle, has provided for me even when I was at my lowest point. He has given me more than I deserve and he gives me a feeling of self worth unlike any I have ever had before. In fact, I would say that is a big reason why I was able to walk away and not return as many abused tend to do. I had a moment of clarity that came over me and made me determined to respect myself and love myself enough to get out of the abuse and look for what God really had in mind for me. I am now married to a wonderful man who treats me like a queen. I chose the first one without God's guidance. I see what that got me. Now I see what giving it over to God got me. I have to say he has been faithful to his promises and I have no reason to doubt He will continue.

From the book of Hosea, I would say God is more like a man who has an adulterous wife.

The man loves her and constantly looks for her.
He accepts her back no matter how many times she cheats on him
Even if she rubs his face in her adultery by having children with another man, he loves those children as his own

Anyone who feels victimized by God does not know Him or understand the Bible.
I think atheists who take this view do not think things through. It suits their personal agenda.
Knowing the truth suits my personal agenda.
I've already looked at it from all sides and made my decision of what is right and wrong.
You think I'm nuts. I think your nuts. So what.

I don't think so. In confirmation class we say that we all have a place in heaven, and God stays out of our life, but forgives us for everything. But then again, different people believe different things.
