Americans are divided by two main politcal parties. Liberal and Conservative. Liberals tend to be more experimental and willing to try new ideas to solve old and new problems. Whereas Conservatives tend to follow and "preserve/conserve" the old traditions and use those to fix old and new problems.
With that in mind I'll tell you about habits. Generally speaking, Americans have a terrible habit of convenience. We enjoy not having to do something if it means is all we have to do is pay a little sum of cash. Americans tend to do this most frequently with food. We even have our food delivered right to our door and pay for this service. Americans tend to eat lots of fast food, however new liberal movements have been pressing for the boycott of major fast food franchises.
As for lifestyle there are lots of different ones so I'll be very general and cover three one's that are either arising or have been for a very long time. One of the more traditional is a man marrying a woman and together they own a house, car(s), and pro-create. However, over the past 50-80 years a new trend of homosexual or same sex coupling has occured. Some states of the America have adopted a "Homosexual Marriage Protection Act" or something to that effect; which allows homosexuals to marry their partner and share their taxes. This is a significant reduction on the amount of taxation they recieve every year.
Traditions: This must be broken down into the many traditions we commonly celebrate. Christmas/Hannuka/Kwanzaa/Romadon, Easter, Thanksgiving, Holloween.
Christmas/Hannuka/Kwanzaa/Romadon. The only one I can really elaborate on is the two types of Christmas celebrated here in America. Christmas, for Christians and Messianic Jews, is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Nazerene. Chrstians believe Him to be the Messiah, which is why the celebration; that He would humble Himself to be born in a manager from the fiance of a carpenter. Christmas, for the rest of America, is the celebration of good behavior. Santa Clause, the somewhat comical figure of an old man who dresses in a red suit and rides a magical sleigh with flying deer; has become a figure of deep respect by children between the ages of 2-12. The level of respect varies from child to child from just hoping that he gives them a present to practically or even literally deifying him as a godlike character. Santa Clause supposedly comes on Christmas day at midnight and climbs down your chimney while your sleeping. If your awake, no presents; if you were naughty that year, you get a piece of coal.
Easter is the celebration of either of two things. Easter can be the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who according to The Gospels, was crucified and buried then rose again. Whereas another tradition is the belief in the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny leaves a basket of eggs, colorfully decorated to appeal to the eyes. The tradition is to hide eggs and have children find them. The plastic eggs contain little candies and goodies inside for consumption.
Thanksgiving: this simply celebrates the peace and foundation of the new settlement on America. When the English settled on Plymouth Rock they didn't know what it was going to be like; but they fled here for many reasons, one of which was freedom to worship God in the many they saw best fit them.
Halloween: oh boy. Children dress up as various characters from movies, tv, books, or just mythical characters and go from door to door saying, "Trick-or-treat". The person who opens the door and hears this phrase will then drop consumable goodies into the bag and close the door.
Music: the thing that America can really call it's own is mainstream rock. Mainstream rock is soft blend of distorted guitar sounds and high pitched singing male vocalists who sing about girls who they never got to have sex with.
Funerals: there are two types: Burial and Creamation services. Both are usually very solemn and remorsal in appearance. However, the burial tends to last longer because there are two stages: the reception and the burial. The dead body is transported in a vehicle called a herse "Hurhse". After prayers, soft goodbyes, and a few flowers placed beside a tombstone; the body is lowered six feet under grounder into a cemented vault. Creamation services have the first stage, but the second stage is not witnessed by the receptionists. It is performed in private where the cadaver is burned to ashes and the ashes are put into a vase called an Urn.
Weddings were sort of covered in lifestyle.
Food, we pretty much have everything from every country. However, our adaption usually involves lots of sugar, salt, and grease to make the taste more appealing for youth.

That is a very general subject. Could you narrow it down?
Like, in comparison to what culture?
You might want to come up with some more specific questions.
