She now, no longer poops in her litter box. She pees in her litter box and poops along the wall and directly infront of the television which is a floor above her box. I'm getting sick of stepping out of my bedroom in the morning and directly into cat poop. Should we have her put down? And she's been in heat non stop for 3 straight months. We have tried to let her go out and mate but she is afraid to leave the house. Is that normal? She started pooping on the floor a year ago. She also jumps into the wall a lot. Is this a disease that we could get treatment for. Or are the symtoms so bizzar and weird that a diagnosis would cost 100 times the amount it would cost to have a vet put her down. What do you think?

Well, you shouldn't have your cat killed until you try to find out what's going on. First step: get the poor thing spayed. If she's been in heat constantly for months, that's not normal. The jumping on the wall might just be because she is desperate to mate and is expending energy by literally bouncing off the walls. Constant heat cycles are annoying to you and could be hazardous to her health as she could get a uterine infection and die. Why do you want to breed her? Then you will be stuck with a litter of kittens. Millions of cats die in shelters and outside every year, so please don't contribute to the problem.

You should take a stool sample to the vet to be sure she doesn't have any parasites. And you should have a litter box on every floor of your home so that she can get to one when she needs one. She may be trying to tell you that she needs another litter box upstairs, that she doesn't like the type of litter you're using, that she doesn't like the type of box you have, etc.

Please take her to a vet. The vet can do a full physical on her and may find a problem you haven't noticed. And please get the cat fixed asap. That alone may solve your problems.

Good luck!

Take the poor thing to the vet and have her spayed. The last thing the world needs is more unwanted kittens, and leaving her in heat like that is cruel. That will fix a large part of the problem, right there.

Then clean the carpet really well with an enzyme spray to kill the smell of the poop, and make a habit of keeping the litter box as clean as possible - scoop the poop at least twice a day, change it out at least once a week.

That should solve most if not all of the problem.

You are not the only one!!! My solution to the problem is to keep my cat (she is now 12 years old) in the laundry room - complete with her litter box, food, water, toys, scratching post, and basket. I just became so freakin' tired of seeing the poop on my throw rug downstairs everytime I came home from work. And the work! Poop removal into bag or toilet depending if I was cleaning her box at the same time, steaming hot water for the scrub brush, and of course the carpet cleaner. Believe me I did everything including removing the clump of pee as soon as she did it so that her litter box would remain pristine. Now that she is in the laundry room she uses her box all the time. I know it seems cruel, but I do check on her (including speaking to her and petting her) 2 or 3 times a day - I quit my job and have more time for now but that's another story - and my daughter takes a peek at least once a day and drags a string toy around for her. I think part of her problem was she did not like being alone all day long - thus, pooping in a place she knew we would not like her to, in hopes of receiving more attention. The thing is she got into a nasty habit and did so even when we were home! The laundry room solution seems best for now unless she shows any signs of a physical problem. It costs a great deal to put an animal down and unless I see this as being warranted, this is my solution. Hope you find this helpful!

Why in God's name would you even consider putting a cat down because it doesn't use the litter box? That is NOT a valid reason, sorry. And any good vet would probably refuse to do it anyways. Get the cat spayed ASAP and the problems will most likely get better. It's the responsible thing for you to do.

Hate to admit this to you, but the reason why she's pooping is because she's in heat. It's territorial marking. Some female cats will spray or poop to mark their territory. Have her spayed and the problem will go away if you don't wait too long or it will become a bad habit then. Call a vet at least to learn more about this. We experienced this years ago and found it that was the cause.

I had a cat who had the exact problem, except she didn't use the litterpan at all! There was nothing physically wrong with her, though. Unfortunetely, my family got fed up with her accidents and we took her to a cat sanctuary, where she was adopted by someone who didn't mind cleaning up after her.
One thing you shouldn't do is put her down. If she's using the litterpan to pee but not poop, there could be something wrong. Or she could be sick and this is her way of telling you. Talk to your vet and have he/she take a look at your cat.

I would take her to the vet to see what is wrong with her. One thing I do not understand is that in your cats 'condition' why would you put her out to mate? Do you really think she needs to have kittens if she may not be totally healthy? What has taken you so long to decide to do something about this? You should take her to the vet find out what could be the problem and the solution.

PS
I really hope you are not itching to put your cat down like it seems in your statements.

What your kitty is telling you is where they want the litter box. My kitty went all the time behind my TV. I moved the litter box behind where she was going, I haven't had any problems since! Maybe your kitten doesn't like the litter brand you are using. Maybe her food is making her "go" alot. If all else fails, go and get your kitty fixed, and checked for intestinal problems. She's also in heat and marking her territory.

Best of luck.

Sound like you need to take her for a check up. Vets can answer most of the questions, if not all of them. I had a cat once that decided that she was going to pee on top of the stove, until I caught her one day, needless tosay, she became an outside cat.
Don't get me wrong, she was still a good cat, but, she had to live outside.

All I can say is go and get her spayed. The world doesn't need any more kittens. That would probably take care of the bad habits. Plus, it would be a shame to put her down.
