We are looking for one of those carriers that you attach to your chest... what's the best and what's the worse.

We want something safe and comfy for both baby & parent.

The ones you can get in the store- Baby Bjorns and the like can be bad for baby's spinal development by putting too much strain on their backs before they are ready for it. Facing babies out with a Baby Bjorn or any carrier can be bad for the development of their hips, by pulling them into the wrong position and also because it can be overstimulating too.

Have you looked into Mei Tai style carriers? These can be good worn on the front, but with baby facing towards your chest. Also, you might want to invest in a few- as baby's needs will change as he/she grows. For newborns, pouch or ring slings are good because they can sleep nuzzled up next to you or you can nurse (if you choose to breast feed) them easily and inconspicuously. When they're a bit older, they can sit with their back against you and Indian style.

There are so many different styles of baby carriers. I've mentioned just a few. Please don't be afraid to actually go beyond the BrU mass store offerings and look online. The Bjorns and similar carriers are not very versatile. If you put some thought into it and look around, you can find something great. Plus (and not that this is the important thing) if you get a fashionable one (most of them are- see my links below) people will stop and comment on how beautiful your wrap/sling/carrier is and ask where you got it. Believe me.

Check out thebabywearer.com to help you narrow down what you want. Many websites that sell baby carriers are small businesses and work at home moms that could use your business way more than big chains :)

Good luck!!

I absolutely LOVE the new native baby carrier, and from what I have seen babies love it too. I makes the baby feel secure, and it makes it so handy to do things. I think the website for them is www.newnativebaby.com if you want to check it out.

IHAD A BJORNS CARRIER THAT STRAPPED DOWN AND THEN THE SLING.
THEY WERE ALL UNCOMFORTABLE AND HAD TO HAVE HELP GETTING INTO.
AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES IN IT, ID GET HOT AND TIRED AND HAVE TO SIT. PUTS A LOT OF STRESS ON THE BODY. THEN AGAIN MY SON WEIGHED 17 POUNDS AT 3 MONTHS!

i like slings.. that newnativebaby.com looks just like a sling but more comfortable due to the wider strap.. but i like the slings because the baby is close to you, and you could see it and make sure it feels comfortable.
