Sounds like a rannula. This is a lump that forms when the sublingual salivary gland(under your tongue) gets blocked and fills up with saliva. Its often worst at meal times because you salivate more then. Its appearance is described as being like a frogs belly. It might unblock by itself, but often it needs help from a dentist or oral surgeon.
Other possible causes could be an infection or even oral cancer.
people who smoke and drink alcohol are most likely to suffer the later. I think you should get it checked out by your dentist.

I'm a dentist.

You need to have it checked out. The lateral border of the tongue, ventral surface of the tongue, and floor of the mouth are the most common areas for oral cancer to develop.

What you describe sounds like it could be a sialolith, or a "stone" in your Wharton's duct (provided it's a hard bump). It could certainly be many other things. I'd have no way of knowing without examining it.

I often get them, though I don't think my go yellow. Mine is just a spot/hard lump. It usually disappears after a few days. I usually get them after eating something. I think it is probably where I may cut my mouth on a bit of food after eating. Mine don't hurt either, it's just annoying because I can never stop playing with it with my tongue

It is most likely a blocked minor salivary gland which is called a mucocele. You should see your dentist though just to be sure everything is ok. It usually is just a 10 minute appointment for the dentist to check it out.

It could just be an infection, but wouldn't you rather be sure, speak to your dentist or doctor, they have the knowledge on these questions.
