It can be really hard to lose a pet. The summer before I went to college, my cat dies- and I had him since I was two years old. What helped me was thinking about how nice he was and my memories of him before he got really sick. Maybe it would help you to write a little poem or write down a memory of your pet and put it in a picture frame with a picture of you and your bird. That way you can preserve the way you feel about him, but in a way that might help you feel better. I hope this helps!

The loss of a pet is quiet often very hard emotionally on people as they do often become like family members. Give yourself some time and things will return to normal, but you must grieve this loss as you would any other. If you are going to replace him then give it some time also.

Move on. Take things a day at a time.

Do stuff that makes you happy.

Get a new canary if you want.

Awwww...I'm so sorry. 14 years is a looooong time to have a family pet. It gets a little easier with time.

It hurts to loose a pet
you will grow out of your sorrow, even though right now, it does not seem that way.

losing a pet isn't fun. just try to remember all the good things, write them in a journal and keep writing.

Remember, there are always more pets out there

When my mom's dog of 15 years died she found a pet loss support group online. It helped her, it might help you, too.
