I recently started a food journal to see what I was eating and to make sure that I wasn't eating to many calories to find out that I don't eat enough calories. My journal for yesterday showed 1038 calories and I ate breakfast lunch and dinner this includes all the extras that I added to my food, like butter and etc. I don't drink anything but water so that may be why. Does this mean I need to eat more. I am already full and I don't want to eat more. What should I do? I also workout with taebo for an hour everyday. I have lost 30 lbs since Feb 06 when I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid Disease. I still want to loose about 20 -25 more lbs but I want to do this the best way. I figured my calories for today so far and I have had 861 calories so far and that's with breakfast and lunch. I don't eat a whole lot for breakfast, because it makes me kinda sick. What do I do? Is this really bad that i don't eat enough calories I read somewhere that you should eat at least 1200 calories.

1000 calories are sufficient if you are (1)trying to lose weight and (2) getting all the nutrients you need from your diet. Congratulations on losing weight despite your thyroid problem! Speak to your doctor or dietitian to make certain you are getting the nutrients you need and are properly counting your calories.

If you ate three meals at about 350 calories a meal you have one of the smallest appetites I have ever heard of, especially if you feel satiated. If you want to estimate your calorie needs, you might consider a rule of thumb:
body weight X 15 for moderately active individuals (13 for sedentary, 17 for those who are very active). If you are coming up more than 500 calories short, that is definitely cause for concern if you intend to continue the diet indefinitely. You might wish to consider foods with greater caloric density since it seems you have a small appetite. Caloric density is the number of calories per gram, just look at the nutrition data and do some quick math. See the link for an added resource.

Well if you have hypothyroid problems that would explain your eating habits. I wouldnt force feed yourself. Just eat until you are satisfied. The 1200 cal thing is kind of a guideline anyway. Your body tells you what it needs. I would just keep what you are eating to healthy foods with protein and fiber. Keep in touch with your doctor and maybe a nutritionist if you have more concerns

Try drinking a yogurt smoothie with one of your meals. These can be 250 calories or more, but they don't really fill you up. They have a lot of good calcium and nutrients, too!
