i moved around and lost my w-2 forms and need to file taxes for that period of time. Is there any place i can get them. SSI maybe, or do i have to call the IRS. i know tax lawyers can help but i'm trying to avoid the cost of that. thank you.

The best place to get a copy if from your employer.

If this is not possible, you can get a record of what was submitted to the IRS by requesting a transcript of your tax return (if you filed):

If you have your last pay stub, you can create a substitute W-2 using form 4852:

I was successful once calling the IRS and asking for a record of income submitted in a SSN & they mailed it to me. Here's their numbers. http://www.irs.gov/help/article/0,,id=96730,00.html

Contact the employer who gave them to you in the first place. They can provide duplicates for you.
