has anyone ever heard of LPC credit compnay where you get an amount of credit to shop in the LPC catalogue with the credit limit? Then they charge 50$ or 10% (whichever is greater) to your checking account?

Yes, definitely. There are several similar scams out there. Why would you want to pay extra for something that probably is already inflated. These scams usually prey on .young/older people or those with minimal incomes or inferior credit reports..
Some scams ask you to deposit X number of dollars in tjheir account before issuing you a "credit card". The amount of money you deposit would be your "credit line."

Sounds like a scam to me.... Why don't they just tack the $50/10% charge right onto the bill you rack up in their store?

There are lot's of "catalog" companies, but you have to shop within their catalog. That's fine if that's what you want to do; for most of us, we want to shop elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and get a credit card, that will allow you to buy from anyplace, whenever you want.
