everyone hides them so I have to click them open. I hate the ratings and wish Yahoo would get rid of it that way no one can be discriminate ed so either the asker or the voters can decide for themselves. I would think an answer would be selected based on the most sound info, any way to prove the answers if they are difficult to substantiate such as with webpages, politeness and tact, etc. The cat groups is getting "catty" ...no pun intended.

Read the question and you'll see why it's in the cat category!

Hi Lovemycats0, I see you are one of those people who give good answers and also getting thumbs down. So sad that people don't have a life.

But I hate having to choose to see all answers everytime I want to vote for questions. It just should show them all anyways.

It seems some people are here to participate in a contest, rather than try to help the cats. Don't let it discourage you. Some folks give web references, and others answer from personal experience that may be quite lengthy and solid. It is really up to the asker to choose, and you would be surprised how often they chose the answer that is more convenient for them, rather than what is correct or best for their cat.

Just take a deep breath and remember this is the intenet.

Well so there! I gave your question a thumbs UP! I think that many people give thumbs down only because they don't "agree" with an answer, but if I see something really gross or stupid--yes--I'll give a thumbs down. Some of the information, if taken seriously by the asker could be dangerous. I love thoughtful answers & give lots of thumbs up (although I still have no idea how this benefits the answerere!) It would be a lot faster if answers weren't hidden, I agree---but what mysteries lurk in....

I like the thumbs up or down recommendations.

I think that it would help the poster of the question from getting side tracked on truely poor answers.

For example; if a person posed the question "I am sad, should I commit suicide?" and theat person receives answers like "sure, who cares" or "go ahead", someone can put a thumbs down of those answers to encourage the poster to ignore those responses.

Sometimes when a lot of people agree that an idea is good or bad, it can help guid the poster of the question to the best solution for themself.

I also think it helps discourage morons who try to be rude or mean in their answers in purpose.

I see some thumbs down on answers that look right. Unless it is really a dumb answer I don't use the thumbs down, or unless Anne gets back with her SPAM about this is legit. I used to red flag it but lately I just ignor it. I know she won't go away, and she uses a lot of different names.

I don't pay attention to those really. It only really matters what the asker thinks anyway. If they can use the information, great, if not, that's fine too.

I agree with you though. I've seen lots of really good answers that have gotten thumbs down, and really stupid answers with thumbs up. Go figure.

You can choose what answers you want to be shown to you. You can have the option "all answers" on, or answers "rated higher than -5", or "rated higher than -2", and so on. The box with the options is right under the question, either yours or someone else's question you are opening.
