I work in the grocery field. Things last way longer than what they say. But, with chocolate, 6 months after the expiration date.

Chocolate is always good, even if it has that white "bloom" on it. All that is is the cocoa butter rising to the top. If it is melted and then left to harden, it till turn back into the traditional brown color. The chocolate might taste old after a while, but if it tastes bad don't eat it. Now with the fruit in it, I wouldn't eat it if the fruit looked bad or tasted bad and would probably throw it out over six months' expired.

Well, considering that the main reason to eat chocolate is that it tastes good, and expired chocolate doesn't taste as good, eating expired chocolate seems pointless. But then, chocolate is really just fermented cocoa beans. Fermented grapes are supposed to taste better the older they get, so even if the chocolate doesn't taste better, it certainly won't be bad. Maybe you can get drunk off of expired chocolate?

Never never never and when I say never I mean never, when chocolate has expired little parisites come out after about three months, and many times they are not visible threw the naked eye. So please just throw it away. I am a chocolate lover and I had to learn this the hard way when I was a young girl, so you can imagine the horror I felt when I was shown the parisites.

You will be fine, I worked for a chocolate company, the only thing to look out for is when it turns off color. When it is milk chocolate it will turn lighter almost white then it's bad.

It is just fine and that saying is mainly for selling it by its latest freshest date and it doesn't go bad for a long, long time. They love to scare people into thowing out good food and buy more.

Although it can take a long time, chocolate can become poisonous after it expires.
