Are you refering to the parasite that can invade a persons colon? If so, it is a parasite that can work its way into your intestines and compete with the body for nutrients. It will actually make a person eat a lot more than usual because of the competition. They can be very long, up to the length of your colon and sometimes the first signs of a person having them is that it will actually be partially out of a persons butt. They can be killed with medication but it does take several months.

However, more commonly this refers to an intestinal worm which gets into the system and then spreads contagiously to other people who use the same towels etc. as the sufferer until it is dealt with.
