My brother-in-law is being deployed in 2 weeks and we want to send some things with him. Does anyone know the rules for this? Thank you to anyone who answers. This is a terrible time for us!

I know how much you want to send him away with things, but he really has his hands full. Literally. If it's something small, (as in mouse size) he can pack it away in one of his bags. But it's best to wait until he touches ground and gets situated first. There is a whole lot of moving involved in deployments, and things might be lost. (Speaking from experience) When he's all settled in, start sending him so much stuff he doesn't know what to do with it all. He'll appreciate it much more. You would be surprised to know how many soldiers don't get anything the whole time they are there. I mean not even a letter. So pamper your beloved when he's settled. I hope this helps you guys!

Oh, 1 more thing, you can contact a USO station in an airport to see what they have going on for the soldiers. A lot of families do this.

well he should have had time to pack stuff to send over before he leaves to go. We send out stuff last month to get there by the time we go the day after Christmas. So you may have to send it in a care-package after he leaves. Thank him for all the hard work and God Bless your family.

Whatever you can carry save personal firearms alcohol drugs and porn. He will get so much crap to carry that it will be best to wait until he gets to his base and then mail him things that remind him of home but he can't get there. He should have his mailing address already so if you mail the stuff the day after now it should be waiting for him when he gets in country.
