I think you already spent too much time even writing this question about this meaningless subject. And not only are we now all dumber for having read it, but we’ve lost yet another few precious seconds of life reading this pathetic nonsensical dogcrap.

Maybe
If you want him to keep the relationship firm, stop calling him an ingrate and make him happy for a change!
Get him a sofa, some nice toys and talk!! It's all about the communication.

I think that you should just give him a huge bowl of ice cream and then let him sit on the couch with you while licking his azz with his sticky tongue, slobbering on your couch. This should bring the both of you closer together. If that doesn't do the trick, take him for a walk and let him poop in all the neighbors yards, this would be the ultimate testimony of your love to him and he will come whining back to you with his tail between his legs.

Has he gone through any behavior changes lately?
Did he get a new collar or get spruced-up at the groomer??
If yes, he could be seeing someone else... I'd keep an eye on him and maybe follow him on those late nite hydrant checks... ya right!
