You need to check in the state that you are getting married in. State of Texas does not require any witnesses other than the Justice of the Peace. I know, because I just got married on Thanksgiving Day by a JP.

No, I don't believe that you do, I and wife, got married by a justice of the peace, although we are in SC and it was in 1982, but we did not have any witnesses.

YES, You will need one witness, If you are not telling anyone ...or you happen to be in a place where your or your fiance don't know anyone...call the court house ahead of time and a secretary or maintenance man ...any nice person may be happy to stand up for you and witness...I wish for you the absolute best life has to offer....live...love laugh.....

All depends on where you live or are getting married.
Some places require at least one witness & some places require two. And where I'm located....you need none.
The JP or Countly Clerk will be able to give you all the info you need.

Yes, but if you don't have one, the JP may be able to provide someone to witness the ceremony for you.

I don't think so, and the JP can be your witness. Might have to check in your state to make sure.
