you do not automatically become a resident just because your spouse is in the military. you still have to go through the same paperwork as anybody else who wishes to become a Green card Holder.

No its not automatically.
You have to file your paperwork.you will have to file for your work permit and green card.
The work permit takes about 3month.
green card about 10 month.
Now it depends where you file it if its some small office you may have it in 6 month, just be careful when you move and have to transfer your paperwork to a new state.....ughhhh that's a pain it will get lost go to a wrong state etc.
i don`t know if the prices have changed but i think its around 110$ for the work permit and 220$ for the green card i think there is a small fee for the fingerprints also.
if its a bigger city like Miami prepare for a long wait and be there early.
If you overseas they handle it a little different the give you a visa that is good for a year or two and then you get your green card.
good luck!!

From personal experiance, yes you have to do the immigration paperwork, and fees. The only difference is in the required income for support. The monthly income required to be a sponsor is lower for military than for non-military persons. It does not speed the process along either. Took a little over 2 years before my wife and I had our interview, and when we did, since we were married for over 2 years my wife and step daughter qualified for unrestricted 10 year residency.

They were incorrect. There is no 'automatic' citizenship. You still need to go to the Citizenship and Immigration Services website, fill out the forms and go through the process.

There have been many people, from a number of different countries, who have served and been awarded citizenship.
