I have finally admitted/realized my difficulties with these issues. I want to get help, but am not sure exactly what kind of drug I should try. Of course my Dr. will work with me on this decision but I would like to get some feedback from users. He previously put me on xanax for the anxiety and it definately lessened after popping the pill, but I don't like how it makes me feel fatigued and loopy. I realize there is no wonder drug but I would like to know if there is any one drug to combat all three conditions...anxiety, depression, and fatigue. All this, keeping in mind that I really don't want to have the sex drive or weight gain issues as I already have a low sex drive and have recently gained 10 pounds. Any HELP is appreciated...so while I do respect and usually agree with all you anti-medication people...I have made the decision to try some so please spare me your disapproving lectures. Please help! Thank you all!

Pls call your dr for a referral & make an appt re your depression with a psychiatrist. He will know which drug to take in addition to the anti-anxiety drug. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the right drug but whatever will work would need a prescription. Avoid an over-the-counter drug as you don't know how it would react with the drug you are taking.

I would ask for a referral to a psychiatrist. After the initial visit you could make 15 min appts on an as needed basis. A family dr is not experienced in finding the proper meds for psychiatric illnesses.

Good luck to you. Don't waste time by putting it off. The sooner you get started the sooner you'll get well. From one who knows.

You may need more than one drug. Paxil is suppossed to treat anxiety and depression. But most people with 2 disorders have to take 2 medications. It took me 5 years to find the right combination. This last combo has made me gain lots of weight but I really don't care because these last 12 months have been the best in my life.. NO SUICIDE ATTEMPTS. And the weight is coming off slowly, 30 lbs since April. Just remember it's better to be fat and to be alive than not be here at all.

I was going to say the same thing. You need more than one medication and a family doctor will not usually do that. There are unfamiliar with the side effects. I would go to a psychiatrist. Unless you really like your family doctor or you know what you want, I would ask for a referral.

I have found from trial and error that if you add 100mg of Wellbutrin or more to any antidepressant, it will help with the fatigue. Wellbutrin is a mild stimulant which is why its prescribed to people to stop smoking under a different name which I forget now. I agree with you its frustrating finding something that doesn't make you drowsy or gain weight. I hope you find something.

If you are a natural person you should try cognitive behavioral therapy. It was the only thing that has helped me with my horrible health anxiety. Read here https://tr.im/xJr9h

Your thinking determines your quality of life. Your thinking is what causes you these feelings:

Anxious, fearful, stressed or depressed
Constantly worried, or angry about something that is happening in your life
Struggling to overcome obsessive and negative thoughts.

If you change your thinking, you will change your life. This is the basic idea behind CBT for anxiety. The Cognitive part is where you learn nee methods and ways to change your same old habits and thinking patterns. If you keep thinking and expecting the worst – You will continue to suffer.

See a psychiatrist and treat the social anxiety disorder. People with social anxiety tend to get depressed and depression causes fatigue. There is a new social anxiety drug on the market which is working wonders called Klonopin. I would start there and then if there is still depression etc deal with those symptoms.

I can understand what you are going through. It can be temporary. Try to control yourself. Don't thing about anything. Go and watch TV, gardening or whatever you want to do alone BUT keep it out of thinking negatively. Turn those thinking in something positive. Make plans for the future, something that you really always liked to do. And gradually try to "open the door" to those people that are around and love you.

Paxil is good for social anxiety. Most antidepressants can decrease sex drive or contribute to weight problems. Someone mentioned Klonopin - this could cause blood pressure to drop.

Everyone is different. This can only be determined by a doctor. Go see your doctor and they will tell you what is best. Sometimes you have to try a few different things before you find the right one, but no on here can tell you what that will be.

It would be a family that takes physical time to be together every day not just on holiday!! And takes an active interest in the contentment or pain of the other family members.
