Yes. In fact technically you are in the inactive reserve for a few years after you leave. The chance of being recalled is very slim since all of the active reserve goes first.
BTW: You do pay for all of your uniforms but the military gives a few dollars a month to maintain them.

Yes. The "dress uniform" or "Class A" is purchased by the soldier, therefore property of the individual when they leave the service. All other issued clothing and gear, such as uniforms, helmets, rifles, ect. are turned back in during outprocessing. I still have my Army Class A uniform somewhere from my enlistment during the 90's.

Members with Honorable discharge may keep their uniforms, members given a bad conduct discharge, or less than honorable must return their entire sea bag of uniforms before discharge. This means that if you are missing items from the inventory list, you have to buy it before you return it.

Sure, you miss your family but, you have some great friends, too. Do people enjoy going to work every morning? It's very similar. I wouldn't trade my experiences in the Marine Corps for anything. If you want to know what it's like you'll have to join because no one will be able to tell you what it's like, especially people who were never Marines.

The officers had to buy the uniforms when they come into the service, so they do keep them.
The enlisted members keep them once they complete basic training.

Yeah. It's sort of paid for. And, the uniforms change so much, why return it? It's going in the dumpster anyway.

They did when I was in. After you are out of the service you are entitled to wear it at appropriate occasions like Veteran's Day ceremonies.
