I don't know about "bloody madness" but there's nothing wrong or bad about rigorous, heated debate.

Because religion is a very competitive business in disguise. It takes in $3 Billion a year in tax free donations and gives people power over others (the followers).

When people disagree about such a fundamental principal of existance, it matters. They care.

I do agree that these discussions should be done politely and without trolls and name-calling however.
