Our next door neighbor and the people across the street are related. They are always having get togethers. (with even more relatives) So they have a lot of kids running back and forth across the street. I don't live on a busy street but there are always cars going way too fast down the street. Also our bedroom window faces the street and they let there kids play until it's really late. Last week my husband were trying to sleep around midnight and little kids were playing in the street. I don't know where the moms were but the dads were standing on the curb drinking. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this? Little kids playing in the street at midnight?

It IS MY business when they keep me awake at night and when MY children can't sleep because of it.

I agree with you. Little kids DO NOT belong playing in the street at ANY time. I don't understand why parents today let their children run free. What ever happened to DISCIPLINE? I have 2 children across from me and they are allowed to cross the street whenever lso, and they're 3 & 6. makes no sense to me. God forbid the day comes and something bad happens, everyone else is to blame BUT the Parents.

No I think that is rude also!! I have currently 2 boys ages 12 and 5, with a little girl due on December 8th... I am always teaching my boys to be respectful of others and they totally are!! My 12 year old has a 5pm curfew when he goes over a friends house. Doesn't matter if it's a weekend or weeknight. Evenings are family and unwind time at our house. If we do go over friends houses we leave by 8pm at the latest!! We have a house nearby to us who plays loud music when ever they please. I find that very disrespectful. We live in a very well off area too!
But I am one of those worry wart mothers who watches WAY too much news... I know where my children are, who they are with, what they are doing ect at ALL times. I even still ban certain video games for my 12 yr old... even though he pleads and mentions his friends play them. I am very close to my children and they are very respectful and polite. I feel bad for kids who's parents either are too busy to deal with them, don't care to deal with them, or are having too much fun themselves to deal with their children. Later on they probably will have problems controlling them. But yes I agree with you that is very rude!! You can call the police anonomously and mention that neighbors are making too much noise. I believe you can do this anytime after 10pm.

I went to Walgreen's at 1 am to get a prescription, and there were 7 or 8 year old boys wandering around by themselves looking like they were going to shoplift.
I was in Walmart at midnight and a family with a 5 year old was there.
What are these people thinking?

They are being supervised so I dont see anything wrong with it. Kids in my neighborhood play basketball and skateboard in the street all the time. If you have an issue with them keeping you up then you should be mature about it and tell the parents that the noise is disruptive.

You got the darker side of the family tree living right there.....alcoholism at it's finest folks...throw in a few pill poppers and some other recreations...instant * presto * jerks. That sucks. Isn't there a curfew in your district...call the police to find out. Maybe you should report and record the speeding activity..I'd make an anonymous report if there is. Are they renting? Call the landlord if they are...tell them you don't appreciate the scene.

More then half of parents today don't watch their kids. They are too caught up in doing whatever it is they do. We have neighbors children running threw our yard, banging our cars when they pass our driveway. Throwing candy papers and juice bottles and cans all over every ones yard. I guess it's just the society we live in today. When you figure out how to remedy the situation, let me know. Until then....good luck!

If they are preventing you and your from sleeping then YEAH it's your business. Confront them and just tell them that all the noise is preventing you from sleeping but don't say anything about their bad parenting style(having the kids out at midnight) because they might take offense to that.

It is very wrong for children to be playing in the street at all, ever. Children and cars dont mix. If it were me, I would notify the agency in your country that looks into children at risk of harm by gaurdians or parents actions or omissions. In Australia that agency would be DOCS, the department of community services.

Those parents are inconsiderate. The children are reflection of the parents. They are what you call either a permissive parent or neglectful. Or simply put morons. Maybe you should get the whole elementary scholl students to play in their yard at midnight when they are trying to sleep, see how they like it.
