This is an excellent opportunity for you. It's brutally obvious that you have a large void where your character should be and that your feeble effort put forth to excel in school reflect this most definitively. So you should just follow your nature and hide the card dude!
Why bother to try or achieve at anything in life, just except your fate like some many do these days...........have a nice day.

Are you hiding it because you don't want to hurt your mom or because you don't want to be grounded from your computer games and such until your grades improve? Your mom isn't stupid, she knows when report cards are due and she has to sign it before you take it back to school. It is best to be honest and promise to work harder to bring your grades up to acceptable levels.

What's bad is, that she makes you feel like you are hurting her if you don't get good grades. I hope you'll show it to her and share your disappointment and determination to do better next time, and if she gives you *that look* just say, Mom - spare me the histrionics, they're MY grades, it's enough to deal with already before you heap on the guilt. And walk out.

Otherwise, the only bad thing is that you're avoiding this confrontation. But it might be better for you to do that, for all I know.

Fess up, she'll be more hurt if she finds your being dishonest with her.
Don't let her find out from the school that your report card sucks, tell her you'll do better next period & MEAN IT!

As a parent of a child who brings home "bad" report cards I want to see them. I won't be hurt but I need to see it so I can help.

She's gonna find out your grades eventually and she'll probably be more hurt that you tried to hide it and lie to her. So I would sit her down and tell her the truth!

A lie is a lie is a lie. You can hide it but she will find out eventually and then she'll really be hurt.
