I have been given an awesome oportunity. A benefactor has been flippin the bill for my dental work. I am about to have braces removed. It is now time to have crowns put on. My teeth are all different shapes and sizes. Today, I had a consultation with my dentist about crowns. Right now he only plans on putting crowns on 6 upper teeth and a few crowns on the bottom teeth.
I admit ignorance, but I am concerned nonetheless. I have told the dentist that money is not the issue. Therfore, shouldn't my dentist be putting crowns on every tooth? He is out of the office until Monday, or I would call and ask him.

YOUR DENTIST SHOULD NOT PLACE CROWNS ONE VERY TOOTH IN YOUR MOUTH. WHEN CROWNS BITE AGAINST ONLY CROWNS, THE BITE WILL MAKE THOSE CROWNS SUSCEPTIBLE TO BREAKING.
WHY?
BECAUSE CROWNS ARE COVERED WITH PORCELAIN, AND PORCELAIN IS A HARD, BUT BRITTLE SUBSTANCE.
FOR EXAMPLE, SAY YOU WANT TO BEAT SOME SOME EGGS TO MAKE AN OMELET. YOU HAVE 2 CLEAN BOWLS TO USE. ONE METAL AND THE OTHER PORCELAIN. WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BEAT THE EGGS IN?
I AM JUST MAKING A POINT. DO NOT GET ALL METAL CROWNS EITHER.

#1 worst mistake - Telling your dentist money is not an issue. Not all dentists are completely honest. Some of they are crooks - not to say that your dentist is. But remember. A crown does not last forever - and at some point down the road they will all have to replaced. Re-think putting crowns on all your teeth.. I would sugguest getting a second option with another dentist. Just to see what someone else would say about your teeth. It can't hurt!

Dr. Albert is right.
Don't crown all of your teeth. Your dentist wants to crown those certain teeth for a reason. Ask him to explain your situation. It will make more sense. People don't just go around crowning all of their teeth for the heck of it. ( Unless, of course you want them all gold for a fashion statement!)
But there are medical reasons doctors crown teeth.

Don't do it. I have a crown on two teeth. One of those crowns are right in front. I can not take a
bite of an apple without risking breaking the
crown. Crowns can break if you eat nuts, or anything
crunchy, or even ice. If your teeth are okay then
forget the crowns.

No, your dentist will do crown work only on teeth needed. Maybe your front teeth are the only ones you need. Sure call and ask but that maybe the case.
