He might be displaying the early signs of OCD. Before this gets way out of hand, I would consult a behavioral therapist to see what you can do to help him not be so obsessed with cleanliness.

Did he do this before the baby arrived? Sounds like jealousy and attention getting to me. I would ignore and not comment and see what happens.
Where is he picking this up? At school? From a family member? Kids don't think of this on their own . . . maybe he is over-interpreting what the teacher has taught.
Could be OCD, but is rare in young children.

what did you do to this child? hopefully he will grow out of this. I would talk to your son's doctor. he will know. or call a psychologist who specializes in child behavior. they can let you know over the phone if this is going to far, if something is wrong. sorry for saying it was your fault. It probably isn't. and parents get blamed for so much anyways. good luck

that earrings a bell for me. i'm an entire 'pile individual,' yet i'm getting fairly disillusioned with myself/my boyfriend (regrettably for him) while the kitchen and bathing room are messy. i do no longer innovations STUFF- it is the sticky/crumby/soapy buildups that get me. then i'm getting spastic and verify out to bathe each and every thing at as quickly as, which hardly works out nicely because of the fact that i'm a pile individual....yet, no, you at the instant are not on my own in that tendency. i easily think of it is sort of an escapist symptom of having clutter- according to hazard the could cleanse and purge without handling the clutter. which jogs my memory, that's one in all those purging days. desire me luck.

You might want to speak to his doctor about this. This really is not normal behavior for someone of any age. If it is OCD maybe they can get it treated early.
