I can't believe any doctor would ok drinking for any reason. You're an alcoholic if you feel you HAVE to drink, birthday or not. Better get yourself into rehab. And your ulcer will heal.

personally, i would choose beer. I once drank a screwdriver when i had an ucler and it was soooo painful. I could feel the vodka going down my throat and hitting my ucler. I almost cried. Beer is much more gentle than hard liquor, imo. However, i'd go with a thicker beer like a black and tan (light beer doesnt get me drunk especially when i have an ulcer). I usually take a pepcid or some prilosec or whatever several hours prior to drinking. Then depending on how my stomach feels with beer, i sometimes feel well enough to go to the harder liquor. But if you want to puke blood the next day, go for the hard liquor like tequila, 151, everclear... Also, just found this out the hard way, don't touch jager and redbull (jager bombs) when you have an ulcer. In fact, stay away from all energy drinks when you have an ulcer....

I wouldn't drink at all with an ulcer. I saw a guy get terribly ill after doing that. It put him in the hospital. I wouldn't recommend it.

Alcohol is the worst drug in the world, why would you want to drink it?
