In a way, Yes. When I was alot younger i used to be allergic to cats, and recently I lived with some friends that had 3 of them! I didn't sneeze at all. My brother has experienced something similar. My father is stll very allergic. I guess it depends on the person. He takes Claritin for it, it seems to really work for him.

For the people who are allergic to cats or animals--You will always be allergic to cats, and dogs. The reason I say this is I have 2 100 lbs dogs, and a cat. They all live in the house. I take Zyrtec-D for my allergies. If I do not take my pills, I will sneeze my head off and my eyes get puffy and red and my nose will run. The reason some people do not have symptoms but they have allergies is because some animals have less dander than others. The dander is what makes a person sneeze. Some cats clean themselves more than other cats. I found that female cats are better at keeping clean. Dogs with shorter hair will be less likely to hold dander than the longer hair dogs. I have lived with this allergy thing for 25 years and have done extensive research because I love my animals and I would rather live with my allergies than get rid of my dog or cat.

It isn't so much a growing out of it but growing an immunity to the item your allergic to. That is what allergy shots do. They introduce a bit of the allergent into your body at a time to build up you immunity. I took shots for two years and have lived with cats all my life but have not done the same with dogs. I am allergic to both and today only have a slight reaction to cats but when I get around longer haired dogs, I itch and break out into hives.

Yes, you can out grow being allergic to cats; just as you can out grow any other allergy. But this doesn't nessecarily mean you are going to. There is also a possibility that it will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Yes, they can. When I was about 10-11 years old my doctor told me I was allergic to cats (which I was). And when I got around them I sneezed like crazy. Now I have a cat of my own and I have absolutely no problem.

Allergies can apparently come and go. I didn't used to have any allergies that I was aware of until I was in my 20's. Then I became allergic to tree pollen, sneezing, runny eyes, really annoying. Now my allergies are so mild I don't even take anything for them most of the time.

I think it is; certainly my own two don't bother me, although I'm allergic to others. I think it's probably a gradual desensitization, although I don't have any real science to back that up - just my own experience.

YES, IT IS POSSIBLE TO OUTGROW THIS ALLERGY. ONCE YOUR BODY HAS BEEN EXPOSED SEVERAL TIMES TO A CERTAIN THING IT WILL REACT LESS TO THIS ALLERGEN. OTHERWISE, INVEST IN BENEDRYL, AND ALL WILL BE OKAY!
