Im a South African living in London. I have a one year working, one year holiday VISA and am interested in joining the British army. I have heard that as long as you have at least 6 months left on your VISA you can sign up. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this topic. I am interested in working for military forces in a peace keeping capacity. I also have some experience in Psychology, although limited, and would love to do something helpful in war time situations. If anyone knows of some opportunities available for a Saffa, with 1 year working, 1 year holiday VISA, PLEASE let me know.

Why not ask them direct?
Although I was living in Nepal and a Nepali friend of mine tried out for the British army there, so you clearly don't necessarilly need to be a British citizen

Believe it or not, they don't take Southies in the British army or allied forces. Due to your inherent tendencies to racism.

watch out. there'e a bill been passed recently in SA that prohibits SA nationals returning home if they have been on operational tour with uk forces. in their eyes you become mercenaries and are obliged to give up your passport. not a problem if you want to stay in uk.
