My forehead and the hairline of my hair (ears to crown) become oily rather quickly ie I wash it in the morning (@ 6 am) and by afternoon (@4pm) I can start to see the hair of this area darken and look oily. Blow drying helps a little, but I don't like using the blowdryer too much - I don't want to damage the rest of my hair. The hair that's away from my face seems dry and rather easily damaged. I use a conditioner on these areas.
I've noticed, also, that if I don't wash my hair for a few days, my scalp actually starts to hurt - usually the top part of my head. I don't have any flakes and only occasionally does my scalp itch - so I don't think it is dandruff (at least not as commonly described). Any ideas about what is going on?

My hair seems to get oiler after a few hours too. It sucks. I have tried lots of different shampoos, and in my opinion, any shampoo for oily hair seems to work the best, and I massage my scalp with my finger tips (not my nails) for deep cleansing. and i NEVER put conditioner on the top of my head. I pull my hair back like its in a ponytail, and put the conditioner only on what is in the back. Also, every other week, I mix baking soda and water into a paste, and i put it on my hair and leave it for about 20 minutes, then shampoo it out. It gets rid of all the buildup caused by shampoos and conditioners.

I had the same sort of deal a few years back...and it persists today. One trick is to carry a little bottle of baby powder and dust it on the oily parts of your scalp near your face. Then, with clean, dry hands, lightly comb it through. It works best on lighter shades of hair, but if you only use a little, it shouldn't make too much of a difference even if you have medium brown hair. It helps keep your hair from sticking to your forehead if you havea fringe and it keeps it smelling nice. You might want to see a dermatologist though if it continues to bother you.

see a doctor
u shud take shower everyday at night, put shampoo & condition (use pantene/dove/fructis), these r very good ones. Massage ur hair, includng ur scalp when u put shampoo. dont brush ur hair after shower, brush it when its dry. dont put 2 much chemical like gel, mousse on ur hair & avoid hairdyes for the moment. Also avoid using straightener, curler for a few days. leave it natural.

you should probably go to a dermatolagist, there are certain scalp conditions that you might have that he could perscribe a special shampoo for.
