Chi irons are the best. You'll need to separate your hair into small sections, and spray with a heat protectant before straightening (I love Aquage Beyond Body Thermal Styler). Make sure your hair is completely dry. Be sure the heat setting is on the higher side, and make sure to only run the iron over the hair, do not hold it in one specific area for any length of time. It's going to take a while if you section the hair out that way, but it's the way to get the best results, and depending on how oily your hair gets, it should last you several days...

I have been straightening my hair for years and the best thing you can do for it, is 1. make sure it is healthy, get it cut if it needs it, and keep it well conditioned 2. use a good straightening product on it - I use Redken's Outshine (its fantastic! it smokes so dont be alarmed!) 3. Blow dry it with a round brush first to get most of the kinks out and to get it dry 4. use the flat iron... but use one that is ceramic and about 1/2 to 1" wide, you can get closer to the root of your hair. As for a brand, I have found that revlon, remmington, and CHI are the best - anything that gets over 100 degrees! But product is the key!!! I can walk in the rain or humidity and have no problems... Good Luck!

I just got a Chi Nano as an early Christmas gift and its awesome. I've used three different kinds of flat irons and none of them compare to a Chi! Even though I'm a guy and have short hair, using a flat iron helps me get the style I want.

I have heard the Chi is great, but I recently purchased one from HSN and it is AWESOME!! I have incredibly thick hair and I only have to go through each piece once. It was called Maxesse? Something like that, I'm not with it right now, but look on HSN.com.
