Just mail them separately ahead of time. Trust me on this. They might be okay in your luggage - but why take the risk. I have been through some high security alerts in the holidays - it is not fun for anybody. Sometimes bags are opened, hand searched and swabbed for explosive residue at random (don't mean to alarm you - this doesn't happen too much). Security is very high during the holidays.
Just mail them, they'll get there and it won't be a hassle. The security rules change all the time - do you really want to have to throw away a gift if it comes to that?
Oh, and get the TSA locks. Worth it.

Almost true,
They will scan or x-ray your luggage and reserve the right to inspect anything in your luggage (gift wrapping will be torn and not resealed). That is why you have to leave the luggage unlocked or they can break the look if it is not one of the new TSA approved looks.
The good news is that the scan may not yield any suspicion depending on the gifts and no further action will be taken.
There will be a note inside your luggage if they opened it.

Nope. in basic terms positioned: they're bugs. they're so small and primitive relative to us that "admire", like a great style of the international around them, is going proper over their heads. particularly, your frequent pup or kitten or maybe human toddler has much greater occurring in its head than your frequent insect does. bugs are particularly tiny dwelling robots--they devour, molt, strengthen, devour some greater, molt and strengthen some greater, breed and then die. And on an analogous time as there is larval tiers for some and issues for others, it quite is rather solidly real of all of them. They do the corporate of life rather much fullyyt in a reflexive, mechanical way. And maximum vertebrate life gets this: maximum land vertebrates kill in spite of bugs they run into (or devour them, as some birds, amphibians and reptiles do). Flies etc specifically have progressed to reproduce by making use of the masses just to capture up on that. there's a metaphor in right here someplace, approximately trolls in this information superhighway, i'm constructive. Or a minimum of the bots[*]. Pun meant.

NO wrapped (sealed) in your carry on baggage.
You can wrap stuff in your checked bags, but if they want to open them up to inspect they will. And they probably will want to open them up to inspect them.
TSA does not have a gift wrap station at the security check point-so they will just rip the wrapping off, and you will have to re-wrap.
So best advice is to wrap when you arrive.

Of course you can have them wrapped. The airline does not open everyone's suitcase to check for prohibited items, the suitcase goes through x- ray.
Just wrap your gifts and put them in your suitcase. For fragile items, you can carry them on as hand luggage. These can be wrapped because it also goes through x - ray.
If you are unsure, call your airline.

True. You can either send them ahead, or pack the wrapping supplies along with the gift.

Call the airline that you are flying. don't take the word of any of the people on yahoo. these regulations change all the time, so it is almost impossible to keep up. call the airline, OR go to the dept. of homeland security TSA website. it has a great how to on flying safely, and will answer all your questions.
go straight to the source, don't trust people that are guessing.

You can wrap anything you like; just expect them to be unwrapped when you arrive at your destination. Either wrap and ship them ahead of time, or take them with you unwrapped and gift wrap them after you arrive.

Didn't see anything about this on the TSA.gov website:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm - Call your airline and see what they tell you. Be aware though since all this searching is intensified so has theft and your gifts may be stolen. As a precaution you may want to ship them ahead. Good Luck!
