hot to me is the physical attributes that a lady has. sexy is the level above "hot". i know a lot of hot ladies that have zero personality. sure they're hot but not sexy. when a lady gives off that certain vibe of confidence and you see that she is happy with who she is, that's sexy beyond belief.
in terms of who i would want to be, i have my "must-have" list.
1. we have to trust each other.
2. we have to have great communication.
3. we have to be willing to compromise with each other.
these are the "hope-she-has" list.
4. common interests (music, style, goals)
5. get along with my friends. my friends are the most laid-back accepting cats around. if they don't like you, then there's something wrong with you. that's on the real.
6. able to dance her @$$ off. not that hoochie stripper pole type of dancing. i'm talking about true hip hop bgirl houser style.
7. pretty face. you can always improve the body but what you see is what you get when it comes to the face.

I'm assuming you are talking about looks. Sexy to me is a thick, sultry girl with curves in all the right places. Hot is a petite looking girl with the flat six pack and a firm backside. These are the extreme ends of sexy and hot, respectively for me.
For a long term partner, I am definately looking for more than just looks. You have to have at least some similar interests. You cannot be inconsiderate, high maintenance, or rude. You have to be supportive of anything I do short of hurting people. She should expect the same from me, also.

Hot is temporary, sexy is everlasting...men generally look for someone as close to their character as possible as they would like to share the same interests but this obviously does not always apply as some prefer subservient partners and others like girls who can be one of the guys. It's also a cultural thing, depending on what part of the world the man is from, you could find yourself being dragged around by the hair or carried around on a pedestal. Personally I go for personality first (she may turn out to be a really good friend), and her looks would be a clincher to take the relationship further.

I like the kind that can hold a converstion. Somewhat passive (like me). Can think for herself. Funny and humorous. Open-minded. Someone who takes of herself. Dresses well. Lady-like. Elegant almost. Kind of like Kiera Knightley in "Love Actually". Sexy and hot? Forward in the bedroom.
